Position Overview

The Manufacturing Process Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the safe and efficient production operations within one of the largest sugar refineries. This position is pivotal in ensuring adherence to safety, sanitation, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within the SQF framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health and safety of all shift employees within the process department, maintaining compliance with established safety protocols.
  • Coordinate site operations and liaise with emergency response teams during critical situations.
  • Lead process shift teams to achieve and surpass daily production targets, while maintaining product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize the WonderWare control system and laboratory data to diagnose operational issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Identify and execute process improvements to enhance team performance.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement sessions, employing root cause analysis to address challenges.
  • Oversee training for operators in safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Provide supervision for packaging and warehouse operations as necessary.

  • Strong technical expertise and practical experience in large-scale continuous operations and food manufacturing.
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in driving operational improvements.
  • Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential.
  • Fundamental knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.

Collaboration with Other Departments:

  • Work closely with Packaging to ensure supply needs are met.
  • Lead the maintenance team to address shift-related maintenance issues.
  • Collaborate with Quality teams for process quality assessments and investigations.
  • Coordinate with Logistics to ensure timely loading of shipments.

Education and Experience:

  • A degree in a technical or engineering discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment is required.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies and Lean practices is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with sugar refining or continuous production processes is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  • Professional communication skills are essential for interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
