Position OverviewUnder the guidance of the Executive Director, Academic, the Director of Health Sciences and Community Services will offer visionary, strategic, and administrative leadership to the school, overseeing programs across various campuses. This role emphasizes a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, which should be reflected in all leadership practices, decisions, and interactions.
The Director will lead their management team in the formulation, execution, and supervision of the School's financial plan. Building and maintaining strong partnerships with external stakeholders and organizations is essential, as is actively promoting the advancement initiatives of the Polytech. The Director will leverage their extensive experience to effectively manage government relations and ensure that all programs align with current and future labor market demands within the community.
Moreover, the Director will guarantee that the School's educational offerings, applied research, and academic services are designed to support student success from enrollment through graduation. They will also play a vital role in the sustainability and growth of the Polytech by participating in the Senior Academic Committee (SAC) and other governance structures.
Essential Qualifications- A graduate degree in a relevant field combined with at least 7 years of recent, pertinent senior leadership experience.
- Proven track record as an innovative leader at a senior level.
- Strong commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, anti-racism, social justice, and fostering inclusive environments.
- A genuine passion for teaching complemented by practical experience.
- Human resource management experience, including supervisory roles in an academic, unionized setting.
- Proficient in change management, conflict resolution, and negotiation.
- Ability to think adaptively and devise innovative solutions to emerging challenges.
- Experience in organizational planning, project management, and financial oversight at a corporate or institutional level.
- History of implementing strategic plans with defined performance management objectives.
- A collaborative leadership style that fosters team building and sustains partnerships across organizations, demonstrating excellence in customer service and global thinking.
- Exceptional interpersonal and facilitation skills, capable of establishing effective partnerships with industry, government, and educational institutions.
- Creative problem-solver committed to quality, service, and accountability.
- Experience in developing and executing formal staff training or academic programs with a focus on student-centered learning and adult education principles.
- Proven ability to cultivate a respectful workplace culture that values diversity, learning, and continuous improvement.
