Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Executive Director, Academic, the Director of Health Sciences and Community Services will deliver visionary, high-caliber strategic, innovative, academic, and administrative leadership to the school, which operates across multiple campuses. This role embodies a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, reflected in every facet of leadership, decision-making, and interactions. The Director will lead their management team in the design, execution, and supervision of the School's financial plan.

The Director will cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with external stakeholders and organizations, actively promoting the advancement initiatives of the Polytech. Drawing from prior experience, the Director will possess the wisdom and confidence necessary for effective government relations. Ensuring that all programs and initiatives offered by the School align with current and future sector and community labor market demands is a key responsibility. Furthermore, the Director will guarantee that all offerings meet or surpass the Polytech's internal academic and external accreditation benchmarks.

Additionally, the Director will ensure that the School's educational, teaching, applied research, and academic services promote student success from enrollment through graduation. The Director will also contribute to the sustainability, well-being, and growth of the Polytech through active participation on the Senior Academic Committee (SAC) and other governance bodies within the institution. This role requires a dynamic focus on entrepreneurship, academia, and service.

Essential Qualifications
  1. A graduate degree in a relevant field combined with a minimum of 7 years of educational and recent, pertinent senior leadership experience.
  2. Proven track record as an innovative leader at a senior level.
  3. Demonstrated dedication to Truth and Reconciliation, anti-racism, social justice, diversity, and fostering inclusive communities.
  4. A genuine passion for teaching supported by hands-on experience.
  5. Experience in human resource management, including supervisory roles in an academic, unionized setting.
  6. Proficient in change management, conflict resolution, and negotiation.
  7. Ability to think adaptively and devise innovative solutions to emerging challenges.
  8. Experience in organizational planning, project and change management, and financial oversight at the corporate or institutional level.
  9. Experience in executing strategic plans, including performance management objectives.
  10. A collaborative management approach that emphasizes team building and sustaining relationships across organizations, demonstrating excellence in customer service, results delivery, complexity handling, and global thinking.
  11. Exceptional interpersonal and facilitation skills, capable of initiating and nurturing effective partnerships with industry, liaising with government entities, associations, educational institutions, and promoting strong community relations.
  12. Creative problem-solver committed to quality, service, and accountability.
