Position OverviewSituated within a leading healthcare facility and reporting to the Manager of Critical Care Services, the Certified Respiratory Care Specialist plays a vital role in delivering culturally competent diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for patients experiencing respiratory conditions. This position is part of a dedicated team of three Respiratory Care Specialists, including a Clinical Lead, who are responsible for developing, executing, and monitoring individualized care plans and respiratory procedures. The department handles approximately 22,000 patient interactions annually, catering to a wide spectrum of cases from routine outpatient assessments to critically ill patients requiring advanced airway management and mechanical ventilation.
The Respiratory Care Specialist is an integral member of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, providing direct care to adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in need of respiratory evaluation or treatment. Additionally, this role serves as a valuable resource for other healthcare professionals, enhancing the delivery of respiratory care through collaborative practices. Acting as a patient advocate, the Respiratory Care Specialist fosters effective communication among patients, families, physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers, ensuring a comprehensive approach to care that addresses the unique needs of each patient.
QualificationsIdeal candidates will possess:
- A completed Diploma or Degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- A minimum of two years of recent experience in an acute care environment, working with neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations.
