About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Farm Boy team as a Department Supervisor. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful operation of our department, including ordering, merchandising, labour scheduling, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service and support Farm Boy's vision of delivering the best fresh shopping experience.
  • Work closely with the Store Manager and Retail Specialist to develop and execute strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, including interviewing, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Communicate effectively with the team, including one-on-one coaching, team huddles, and regular feedback.
  • Manage retail operations, including inventory management, ordering, item maintenance, quality and rotation, shrink, merchandising, invoicing, and scheduling.
  • Participate in store coverage rotation as a Manager on Duty, including opening and closing the store, and supporting emergency situations.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a post-secondary education in business or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role.
  • Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve, and Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or the commitment to complete within 6 months.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Clear and effective communication style, both written and oral.
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to learn manual and automated systems/tools.
  • Skilled at working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Fluency in English and French is an asset.

Work Environment

  • Providing service to multiple customers or departments, working under multiple deadlines.
  • Required to stand and walk for long periods during shifts.
  • Required to lift, carry, or handle heavy objects.
