POSITION OVERVIEW

At Black & McDonald Limited, our Mechanical & Electrical ICI division is expanding. We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative professional who is eager to make a significant contribution to our innovative team.

The Senior Electrical Estimator will be based in Scarborough and will report directly to the Chief Estimator. This role encompasses all facets of estimating, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures throughout the estimating process. The Estimator will also engage with clients to foster ongoing work opportunities and collaborate with suppliers to maintain a competitive edge in the market.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop detailed estimates of anticipated costs for materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects, utilizing contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
  • Provide guidance on tendering processes, assess and analyze bids, and recommend award decisions.
  • Participate in site evaluations, tender assessments, project hand-offs, and operational meetings.
  • Maintain an updated directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Engage in consultation and communication with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

  • Completion of an electrical estimating or construction program.
  • Extensive experience in the electrical construction industry.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in estimating electrical ICI construction projects, with a preference for P3 project experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated proficiency in:

  • Closing estimates
  • Interpreting electrical project designs
  • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional communication abilities
  • Self-motivation and ability to meet deadlines

Advanced proficiency in:

  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project)
