Job Overview

Under the supervision of the Retirement Plans department head, the incumbent serves as a key advisor and resource in the governance of multiple defined benefit pension plans and global trusts. The role involves the formulation, upkeep, and adherence to governance and legislative frameworks. The advisor is tasked with crafting policies, guidelines, and procedures that receive endorsement from pension and investment committees, ensuring they are updated and monitored as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay abreast of developments in standards, regulations, and laws impacting governance activities.
  • Provide expert advice on the interpretation and application of relevant legislation.
  • Conduct impact assessments and propose necessary modifications.
  • Organize and prepare materials for various pension and global trust committees.
  • Design and deliver training sessions for committee members or staff.
  • Create presentations and comprehensive reports related to governance expertise.

Qualifications and Skills

A Bachelor's degree in industrial relations, human resources, law, administration, actuarial science, or a related field is required. Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience in similar positions. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered. Knowledge of Quebec pension plan legislation, particularly in the public sector, is essential. Membership in a professional Order or holding a recognized professional designation is advantageous. A valid driver's license is required.
