Surgical Instrument Processing Specialist

Position Overview
Under the general oversight of the Program Team Manager and Supervisor of Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR), the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, O.R./Endoscopy plays a crucial role in the preparation of supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical and endoscopic procedures. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing case carts for surgical procedures.
- Processing surgical instruments, scopes, and equipment.
- Assembling both scheduled and emergency surgical instrument sets.
- Restocking necessary supplies.
- Performing various cleaning tasks.
- Transporting supplies efficiently.
- Maintaining accurate records.
- Executing other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Minimum of six (6) months of relevant experience within the last three (3) years.
Note: Relevant experience includes roles such as Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, Main, Sterile Processing Attendant, NFA, or Anesthesia Attendant.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Completion of Grade XII or an equivalent qualification.
- Successful graduation from a recognized Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program, including an MDR practicum from an accredited institution.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in a Windows operating environment.
- Strong ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Capability to lift and move equipment as required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Adaptability to high-pressure situations.
- Mechanical aptitude is preferred.
- Effective and respectful communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, twist, and reach consistently throughout the shift.
- Capacity to lift and carry equipment or trays weighing up to approximately 40 lbs (18 kgs).
- Ability to maneuver and push/pull loaded carts.
