About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Lead to join our team at Samuel, Son & Co. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical design of projects from start to finish, providing technical leadership and mentoring to team members, and fostering creativity and resourcefulness in all interactions with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of projects, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to customer specifications and processes.
- Provide technical guidance and supervision to assigned design team members, promoting a collaborative and inclusive work style.
- Assess customer requirements and develop comprehensive conceptual designs, including supporting design calculations, schematics, and 3rd party equipment recommendations.
- Collaborate with project management to ensure timely updates to the schedule and seamless transition during the assembly build and integration phase.
- Proactively address quote deficiencies, scope creep, and change through accepted channels.
- Review and evaluate engineering designs prepared by the design team, ensuring safety, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Develop strong customer relationships, seeking out new opportunities and ensuring ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years of engineering experience in industrial automation.
- Proficiency in Solidworks and AutoCAD.
- Strong written and verbal skills in English.
