Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Disability Case Manager to join our team at Canada Life.

The successful candidate will be responsible for proactively managing assigned disability claims, evaluating medical information and job duties, and developing case management and return to employment plans during periods of disability.

As a Disability Case Manager, you will work collaboratively with clients and their employees to deliver timely, professional, and responsive service. You will also be responsible for conducting medical investigations, writing letters to inform affected parties of decisions, and implementing return-to-work programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage assigned disability claims, including STD, LTD, and Life Waiver
  • Evaluate medical information and job duties to determine the extent of disability
  • Develop case management and return to employment plans during periods of disability
  • Conduct medical investigations and write letters to inform affected parties of decisions
  • Implement return-to-work programs and negotiate with employers
  • Evaluate health care coordination programs and rehabilitation programs to ensure positive effects
  • Adhere to service level agreements associated with policy holder claims
  • Respond to telephone inquiries from applicants, physicians, and lawyers regarding the assessment of claims

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Kinesiology, Disability Management, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
  • Experience or training in disability insurance, life and health insurance, or human resources
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent listening skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
  • Solution-oriented and known to be a decision-maker
  • Excellent communication skills and an interest in customer service
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset
