About the Location

Field Position: This role is primarily field-based, incorporating both onsite and remote work activities. Field associates will engage in travel to various PetSmart locations and may be required to visit the Phoenix Home Office periodically throughout the year. When not traveling, field associates typically operate from their home office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides strategic direction, planning, and implementation of solutions to meet current and future business requirements.
  2. Cultivates strong partnerships with the Regional Vice President and Field Leadership team; mentors Field associates in executing strategic initiatives.
  3. Leverages data, trend analysis, statistical reports, and benchmarking to perform root cause analysis and identify metric-driven solutions.
  4. Develops a top-tier workforce through the training and coaching of all management teams.
  5. Evaluates and guides associates' performance to ensure the identification and development of high-potential talent and organizational strength. Champions efforts to build a Field Leadership talent pipeline.
  6. Holds profit and loss accountability for the district while ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  7. Provides coaching, mentoring, and overall guidance to store management teams to achieve District, Region, and Company objectives.
  8. Ensures the safety and security of company assets, customers, pets, and associates through regular store visits and training on compliance with company and governmental safety standards.
  9. Guarantees that all stores comply with inventory management tools (WISE) to maintain appropriate stock levels for customers.
  10. Effectively communicates business and financial goals to management teams; audits store performance, gathers data, and relays store results to the PetSmart corporate office. Provides constructive feedback to management on store performance.
  11. Represents the company to external organizations within the local community.
  12. Delegates effectively and empowers others to achieve success; encourages individuals to reach their full potential and take ownership of their results.
  13. Remains adaptable in a dynamic environment and manages change effectively. Adjusts team priorities to meet goals and commitments, ensuring continued alignment across business processes and responding to evolving demands.
  14. Ensures all district initiatives align with the company's vision, governing business strategies, and current business priorities. Develops strategic direction and establishes appropriate priorities for critical projects.
  15. Assesses organizational and operational effectiveness and recommends enhancements to improve processes and performance.
  16. Acts as a focal point for progress reporting on key initiatives and provides timely updates and presentations. Consistently offers the Regional Vice President regular feedback on store performance.
  17. Serves as a visible presence and continuous advocate for strategic change and operational excellence throughout the organization. Engages with all levels of the organization to promote a consistent case for continuous improvement, resulting in ongoing benefits for the company.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution is required. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  1. 7-10 years of relevant multi-store experience as a District Manager in a retail setting.
  2. High level of professional and interpersonal skills, combined with solid problem-solving abilities and strategic business acumen.
  3. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
