We are seeking a motivated individual to manage the Northern Canada region, based out of Whitehorse or Yellowknife. The successful candidate will be responsible for Dawson City, Inuvik, Whitehorse, Yellowknife, Hay River, and High Level. The candidate will be a strong communicator with excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and organizational skills, focusing on directing and coordinating activities of the region to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel. In return for your efforts, we offer opportunity for growth plus an attractive compensation/benefits package, including performance incentives, profit sharing, and car allowance or company vehicle.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all terminals run in a profitable and efficient manner, including monitoring freight levels, reviewing terminal financials, and daily revenues and costs.
- Confer and cooperate with other management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures and implement and enforce them.
- Work with terminal managers to ensure service standards are met, review exceptions, and resolve issues.
- Address human resource issues, including discipline, grievances, and layoffs.
- Support, counsel, train, and develop staff.
- Handle customer service issues, investigating service failures and claims, and develop and implement procedures to reduce problems and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with sales personnel to ensure service standards are maintained, customer needs are recognized, and develop new business.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of each terminal.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Long hours and travel are expected.
- Other duties may be assigned.
