Position Overview The Retail Operations Leader is responsible for formulating store-specific strategies and overseeing all store activities to ensure that customer service benchmarks and performance objectives are met, aligning priorities with the broader goals of the store and regional operations. This role includes managing financial resources, labor expenses, inventory oversight, product display, and merchandising strategies. The Leader will inspire, guide, and cultivate their team to enhance customer loyalty, address customer needs, and contribute positively to a culture of employee and customer engagement.

The Retail Operations Leader is tasked with creating tailored action plans for the store that drive profitability, sales, and control over expenses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate a strategy to achieve financial targets and communicate these objectives to the store team.
  • Ensure the appropriate selection of merchandise is ordered to maximize local sales opportunities.
  • Manage labor and overhead costs effectively.
  • Supervise all cash handling, receivables, and store controls.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to enhance sales, turnover, and return on investment.
  • Implement effective loss prevention measures to minimize shrinkage.
Execute in-store selling initiatives, financial services, marketing strategies, and corporate standards.
  • Ensure merchandise is displayed according to established standards to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Proactively drive sales through promotional activities.
  • Ensure pricing is consistent with guidelines.
  • Maintain consistent execution of operational standards.
Build community relations that foster long-term partnerships with customers and local stakeholders.
  • Identify suitable sponsorship and donation opportunities for local events.
  • Monitor customer service levels and satisfaction, addressing issues as they arise.
  • Lead and uphold the store's goals and standards.
Develop comprehensive knowledge of store operations, local competition, and economic factors affecting the community.
  • Enhance the store's competitive position within the trading area.
Skills and Qualifications
We seek organized, professional individuals with a sense of adventure and a strong foundation of knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum of two years in a high-volume retail environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales and profitability goals.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Outlook.
  • Solid understanding of retail operating principles.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to understanding the needs of Northern/NorthMart customers.
