Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Industrial Design Manager to lead the design of transit facility-focused projects. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in the transit industry, knowledge of client programs, and experience managing multi-disciplinary project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities- Lead conceptual and detail design aspects of vehicle and transit maintenance facilities for small to medium and large projects.
- Provide guidance and specialty facility design services to multi-disciplines design team.
- Coordinate workload and balance the team throughout the project's development.
- Participate in leading concept/design meetings with clients and architects.
- Track financial aspects of projects and adjust work effort to ensure completion within budget.
- Serve as design manager of the production team when requested by the Project Manager.
- Facility programming, report writing, site master planning, developing specifications, and construction documents.
- Selection, coordination, and layout of various aspects of facilities design.
- Submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs review.
- Conduct construction field observations.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture.
- A minimum of 15 years experience on industrial/transit facility and civil engineering design projects.
- Strong background in multi-discipline design including architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and fire protection.
- Experience in cost control, scheduling, and risk management.
- Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be a team player and a self-starter.
- P.Eng. or Registered Architect.
- Experience working on TTC, Metrolinx, CN, VIA, CP, and Translink projects.
- Command of Revit and AutoCAD, and knowledge of SketchUp.
