Job Summary:

The Project Manager – Building Science is responsible for overseeing building envelope and restoration projects from initial assessments through design, tendering, field services, and contract management. Typical projects include podium decks, curtain walls, masonry, parking structures, windows, and roofing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze buildings and systems to provide clients with recommendations for additions, modifications, and renovations to residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
  • Conduct condition assessments through testing and evaluation of building envelope systems.
  • Perform on-site leakage investigations, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and terms of reference.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative learning environment.
  • Utilize initiative and judgment to identify and resolve issues while adhering to engineering specifications, code requirements, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with clients, design consultants, and contractors to ensure project compliance with design documents while maintaining budget and schedule.
  • Conduct field investigations, documenting and monitoring project progress, ensuring conformity to building codes and standards, and preparing field observation reports.
  • Work alongside senior engineers to develop professional skills and gain experience in conventional practices.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in building science, building envelope consulting, contracting, or architectural environments.
  • Experience with building envelope elements including concrete and masonry restoration, cladding, glazing upgrades, and roofing replacements.
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license for travel to client sites.

Skills:
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to collaborate with a design team and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including technical writing.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD drafting tools and standards.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently.
  • Asset: Bilingual in English and French.
