Freight Operations Specialist

Job Overview
The primary responsibility of the Shipping and Receiving Associate is to ensure that all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed accurately and are in suitable condition for further distribution. This role involves communicating with clients and shippers regarding various aspects of freight logistics.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with various departments to meet operational objectives. Operate forklifts and other freight handling machinery necessary for the safe and timely loading and unloading of transport vehicles. Conduct accurate piece counts, sort, label, and store various freight and cargo efficiently. Inspect received goods for damage, ensure compliance with regulations for hazardous materials, and verify pro-bill accuracy. Complete all documentation and record-keeping related to the shipping and receiving of goods according to established standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse, cargo storage areas, and shipping/receiving docks. Adhere to all safety policies, practices, and procedures while performing assigned tasks. Report any defects found in allocated ground service equipment or warehouse supplies to the supervisor. Accurately input all incoming shipments into the freight tracking software. Manage inventory control. Assist with ground crew operations as needed. Help with the loading and unloading of freight from aircraft when required. Support shipping and receiving tasks as necessary. Ensure a clean and safe working environment. Promote a positive work atmosphere and foster a healthy workplace culture. Uphold Wasaya's Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external stakeholders. Perform any other related duties as assigned.Required Skills and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous experience in shipping and receiving is advantageous. Proven mechanical skills. Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklifts. Basic math skills. Familiarity with completing waybills is a plus. Proficient computer skills, particularly in MS Office, and adept in using the internet and email. Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently. Strong verbal and written communication skills. High attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Capacity to interact with individuals in a sensitive, tactful, and professional manner. Proficiency in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset. Previous experience in the airline industry is beneficial. Knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset.Working Conditions
Travel may be necessary. Transportation to and from the work site is provided if needed. Food and accommodations are included for rotational work. Overtime may be required. Weekend and evening shifts may be necessary. Potential exposure to job-related hazards. May encounter loud noises, dust, fumes, and oils. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift or move up to 70 lbs repeatedly. Manual dexterity is necessary for operating desktop computers and peripherals.-
