Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Strategic Partner will be instrumental in addressing all personnel-related matters across WSA divisions in Canada. This role is a permanent, full-time hybrid position with an expectation of 2-3 days per week onsite. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and executing HR initiatives, policies, and procedures that align with organizational objectives, including training, benefits management, performance evaluation, and workplace safety.
  2. Serving as an HR authority on employment matters, including interpreting multi-province labor laws to minimize risk; collaborating with external legal counsel and senior HR leadership for complex situations.
  3. Providing employee relations support while ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations and internal policies through consultation and investigation of potential issues.
  4. Working closely with Finance and other specialists to create and maintain HR metrics that deliver essential business insights to senior management.
  5. Acting as a change facilitator, guiding the organization through various transformation initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions.
  6. Collaborating with the Talent Acquisition team on strategies for attracting and retaining top talent.
  7. Advising and mentoring business leaders on the implementation of HR policies and programs.
  8. Executing HR initiatives with a focus on exceptional service and continuous improvement.
  9. Assisting with special projects, employee engagement events, and other tasks as assigned.
  10. Championing workplace culture by developing meaningful programs aimed at engaging and recognizing employees.
  11. Partnering with the broader HR team to analyze employee feedback from various sources, including engagement surveys and exit interviews, to inform new initiatives.
  12. Leading health and safety programs and collaborating with Training & Development and Quality teams on compliance-related projects.
  13. Managing and tracking employee leaves and incidents related to workplace safety and leaves of absence.
  14. Staying informed about developments in the HR field and proposing new initiatives to the HR team.

Qualifications

  1. A post-secondary degree, preferably at the Bachelor's level.
  2. CHRP or equivalent HR designation in progress is preferred.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a comprehensive HR role.
  4. Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.
  5. Strong understanding of HR best practices, regulations, and legislative changes.
  6. Experience with multi-province HR legislation is highly desirable.
  7. Experience in a matrixed organization with multiple subsidiaries.
  8. Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel or other BI tools for financial analysis related to severance.
  9. Experience supporting HR initiatives during mergers and acquisitions.
  10. Ability to identify root causes and effectively advise on complex employee relations matters using conflict resolution skills.
  11. Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and facilitation abilities.
  12. Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of influencing, negotiating, and resolving stakeholder issues.
  13. Results-driven with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  14. Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and manage ad-hoc requests.
  15. Knowledge of workplace safety hazards and best practices.
  16. Comfortable using various tools, including MS Office Suite and HRIS programs (experience with SuccessFactors or DayForce is a plus).
  17. Alignment with WSA values is essential.
