Position Overview

As the Director of Applications Engineering within the Skyworks Diversified Analog Solutions Business unit, you will focus primarily on Connectivity solutions, including Wi-Fi, GPS, UWB, and more, while also providing support for IoT, Bluetooth, and Automotive products as needed.

Your leadership will guide a global team of applications engineers dedicated to the design, adoption, and customer support of Skyworks' premier Connectivity solutions. This role demands exceptional technical acumen, interpersonal skills, and the ability to inspire and lead teams toward success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cultivate strong cross-functional collaboration with teams in Marketing, System Engineering, Program Management, Product/Test Engineering, and Product Line Management.
  • Promote a culture of rapid decision-making and the free exchange of best practices to ensure swift responses to customer needs.
  • Leverage your deep understanding of high-efficiency power amplifiers and integrated RF front-end multi-chip modules to drive product excellence in the communications market.
  • Engage in both internal and external roles: work with design teams to enhance customer reference designs and directly interface with customers to optimize their designs.
  • Travel as necessary to support partnerships and customer engagements.
  • Oversee digital predistortion, RF test equipment, RF PCB design, and troubleshooting of RF circuits and systems analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to enable comprehensive radio solutions.
  • Manage resource allocation and tracking to ensure superior customer support.
  • Mentor and train new team members, fostering their professional development.
  • Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of exceptional talent.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management regarding progress toward strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 15 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree (MSEE preferred) with 12 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong foundation in RF and systems design.
  • Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in data analysis.
  • Experience in Front End or Module level development.
  • Proven track record in leading multidisciplinary teams and navigating cross-functional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated experience in team management.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% (domestic and international).
