Job Title: Director of Applications Engineering

This role is situated within the Applications Engineering division of Skyworks' Diversified Analog Solutions Business unit. The primary focus will be on Connectivity solutions, including Wi-Fi, GPS, UWB, and more, while also providing occasional support for IoT, Bluetooth, and Automotive products.

As the Director of Applications Engineering, you will lead a global team of applications engineers responsible for facilitating the design, adoption, and customer support of Skyworks' premier Connectivity solutions. This multifaceted role demands exceptional technical acumen, interpersonal skills, and inspirational leadership, coupled with a strong drive for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cultivate strong cross-functional collaboration with teams in Marketing, System Engineering, Program Management, Product/Test Engineering, and Product Line Management.
  • Foster a culture that encourages rapid decision-making, sharing of best practices, and individual accountability to develop unparalleled products and swiftly address customer needs.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of high-efficiency power amplifiers and integrated RF front-end multi-chip modules, including PAs, acoustic filters/duplexers, antenna RF switches, couplers, LNAs, and associated impedance matching for the communications sector.
  • Engage in both internal and external interactions; collaborate with design teams to enhance customer reference designs and interface with Product Line Management, Systems, and Marketing teams.
  • Optimize customer designs and provide guidance to clients, ensuring an excellent grasp of RF and WLAN design principles.
  • Travel as necessary to support partnerships and client engagements.
  • Oversee Digital predistortion, RF test equipment, RF PCB design, and troubleshooting of RF circuits and systems analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to support, optimize, and enable comprehensive radio solutions.
  • Manage resource allocation and tracking to guarantee exceptional support for both internal and external customers.
  • Ensure effective training and mentorship for new team members, fostering their development to reach their full potential.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding top-tier talent.
  • Provide regular updates to Senior Management regarding progress towards achieving our objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 15 years of relevant technical experience or a Master’s degree (MSEE preferred) with 12 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong foundation in RF and systems design principles.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication abilities.
  • Proficient data analysis skills.
  • Experience in Front End or Module level development.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and collaborating across various functions.
  • Background in team management.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% (domestic and international).
