Director, Business and Government Relations

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team at destinationone Consulting as a Director, Business and Government Relations. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in supporting the growth and development of Surrey, a city approaching a population of one million people in the coming decades.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in government relations, economic development, and strategic program development, with a proven track record of collaborative leadership and a ability to build and leverage robust networks to achieve ambitious goals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy for the City of Surrey, in alignment with Council's vision.
- Manage all aspects of inter-governmental and indigenous relations for the City, including the production and implementation of rigorous goal-oriented strategic and project plans.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government representatives, business leaders, and community organizations.
- Provide strategic advice and support to the General Manager, Social Infrastructure and Community Investments, and other senior colleagues across the City.
- Build and maintain an economic development information database of demographic and market research materials from regional, provincial, national, and international sources.
- Conduct research, develop reports, deliver presentations, and provide professional advice related to aspects of the Business and Government Relations division.
- Lead a team of professionals and provide guidance, support, and resources to ensure delivery of divisional projects, goals, and objectives.
- Post-secondary degree (preferably at a Master's level) in a related field and 10+ years of progressively responsible professional experience related to government relations, economic development, and strategic program development.
- Excellent communications skills, solid organizational and strategic planning experience, and the ability to build and leverage robust networks to achieve ambitious goals.
