Position Overview

The Gelato Factory Inc. is seeking a dedicated Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. This role is essential for creating a variety of baked goods and desserts that meet our high standards of quality and creativity.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 month and up to 7 months of relevant experience in a baking environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare dough for various baked items including pies, bread, rolls, and sweet treats, as well as batters for muffins, cookies, and cakes, following established recipes or special requests.
  • Create pastries for special events, including weddings and birthdays.
  • Order and manage the inventory of materials, equipment, and supplies necessary for baking.
  • Bake a variety of mixed doughs and batters to perfection.
  • Train kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and safe food handling practices.
  • Prepare and fulfill special customer orders.
  • Decorate and frost cakes and other baked products with precision.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules to ensure timely delivery of baked goods.
  • Ensure that all products meet established quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections of kitchen and food service areas to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Organize and oversee inventory management.
  • Manage the sales and merchandising of baked products.
Work Conditions
  • Work Term: Permanent position.
  • Work Language: English.
  • Hours: 35 to 40 hours per week.
