Electrical Superintendent Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to join our team at Kiewit. As an Electrical Superintendent, you will play a key role in the success of our projects, overseeing the electrical construction process and ensuring that it is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers to ensure that they are fair and reasonable.
  • Manage contract administration, including communication with subcontractors and field management.
  • Develop and implement a program to maintain good client relations, including regular meetings and updates.
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections to ensure that projects are on track financially.
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders to ensure that they are fair and reasonable.
  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover to ensure that projects are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
  • Maintain daily diaries for record-keeping purposes and ensure that all performance evaluations are completed in a timely fashion for direct reports.
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes as needed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of electrical construction experience, with at least 1 year in a superintendent or leadership role.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes, including Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.

  • Ability to perform work safely and effectively, understanding and following oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
