Job Summary
Kiewit is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Superintendent to join our team. As a Mechanical Superintendent, you will play a critical role in the success of our projects, overseeing the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, and quality assurance of our construction operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure the growth and success of our team.
- Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage contract administration, including communication with subcontractors and field management.
- Develop and implement a program to maintain positive client relationships, including regular meetings and problem resolution.
- Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Review, approve, and negotiate change orders to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover, ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase of the project.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, including daily diaries and performance evaluations.
- Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes to improve team performance and efficiency.
- Review and approve promotions up to general foremen, ensuring that candidates meet the necessary qualifications and experience.
Requirements
- 6+ years of construction experience, with at least 1 year in a superintendent or leadership capacity.
- Proven track record of success in industrial construction, with experience in piping, electrical, structural, or mechanical disciplines.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes and software programs.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
