Position Overview
The Senior Technical Project Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the direction, coordination, implementation, control, and successful completion of enterprise-wide and cross-departmental projects and programs that involve significant technological components.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Technical Project Manager, you will:
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, including planning, development, execution, reporting, cross-team coordination, scheduling, securing funding, and managing project budgets to ensure timely completion and adherence to deliverables.
- Establish and lead a company-wide Project Management Office (PMO) with robust governance and reporting mechanisms by adopting industry best practices.
- Maintain an empowered PMO steering committee to review escalations and make strategic decisions beneficial to the organization.
- Manage multiple complex projects that are cross-functional and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Assemble and lead project teams, ensuring effective resource allocation and engagement across the company.
- Identify and manage risks, changes in scope, and develop contingency plans for resource allocation and scheduling as necessary.
- Implement a comprehensive budget management process, including project reporting metrics.
- Develop project schedules, timelines, and roadmaps to ensure effective project management.
- Create and maintain a risk register with appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Provide stakeholders with regular updates on project progress, risks, conflicts, and recommended adjustments.
- Facilitate and manage change as required to achieve project objectives.
- Document lessons learned and evaluate project outcomes for continuous improvement.
- Deliver project management training to enhance knowledge and capabilities across the organization.
- Lead discussions to resolve disputes or disagreements effectively.
- Embed a quality-focused culture within project management practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- Experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager in a large or mid-sized organization.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in customer, IT/software, and internal project management.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing PMOs.
- In-depth knowledge of Scrum, SDLC, Agile, Hybrid Agile, Waterfall, and Kanban methodologies.
- Strong facilitation, motivational, and influencing skills.
- Self-motivation with minimal direction required once outcomes are established.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technological concepts for stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of requirement gathering, testing, and quality assurance methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- PMP certification.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with the following experience will be favored:
- 10+ years of project management experience.
- 10+ years of experience working with cross-functional stakeholders.
- 10+ years of experience in project planning and tracking.
- 3+ years of experience in the retail industry.
- Experience with Hybrid-Agile project management.
