About the Role

BMO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Business Development Lead to join our Corporate Strategy Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in driving the development of Group and enterprise-wide strategies to enable leading engagement, loyalty, and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor, leveraging your expertise to inform business strategy and drive growth.
  • Develop and implement business cases, analyzing potential options and assessing expected return on investment to inform strategic decisions.
  • Lead the execution of strategic initiatives, assessing and adapting as needed to ensure quality of execution and achieve business objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop communications strategies and ensure consistency of messaging, positively influencing or changing behavior to drive business results.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies, providing guidance and support to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Develop solutions and make recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs, driving business growth and improvement.
  • Participate in project and program design, providing advice and subject matter expertise to achieve required business results.
  • Conduct analysis required to inform strategic recommendations, considering the 'big picture' when assessing whether or not a course of action is advisable in terms of the group and enterprise goals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide business context in the design, development, and implementation of programs and solutions.
  • Network with industry contacts to gather and identify competitive insights and best practices, staying ahead of the curve in terms of industry trends and developments.
  • Break down strategic problems, analyzing data and information to provide insights and recommendations, driving business growth and improvement.
  • Monitor and track performance, addressing any issues and ensuring business objectives are met.
  • Build change management plans of varying scope and type, leading or participating in a variety of change management activities, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Identify enablers and key issues prior to and during implementation, raising issues with stakeholders and offering solutions to resolve issues or risks that jeopardize delivery.
  • Operate at a group and enterprise-wide level, serving as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders, providing expertise and guidance to inform business strategy and drive growth.
  • Apply expertise and think creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations, finding solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
  • Implement changes in response to shifting trends, staying ahead of the curve in terms of industry developments and business needs.
Requirements
  • Previous business and/or enterprise corporate strategy experience leading projects/initiatives to support the company's strategic decisions, strongly desired.
  • Typically 2 or more years of corporate strategy or management consulting experience desired.
  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience, and industry knowledge.
  • Verbal and written communication skills - In-depth/Expert.
