Clinical Trials Data Specialist

As a key member of the interdisciplinary Clinical Trials Team, the Data Coordinator plays a vital role in the planning and execution of clinical trials. This position is responsible for overseeing the management of clinical trials data, ensuring compliance with established protocols and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage data-related tasks for clinical trials in collaboration with the Clinical Trials and Health Care Team, including:
  • Organizing and maintaining essential study documentation.
  • Preparing necessary reports and regulatory submissions for distribution.
  • Ensuring completion of follow-up assessments and reporting any deficiencies.
  • Coordinating study initiation and closure procedures with external partners in line with regulatory guidelines.
  • Analyzing and organizing trial data for reporting, audits, and client needs based on established criteria.
  • Completing study case report forms and related documents promptly.
  • Retrieving data by defining selection parameters for effective data collection.
  • Gathering information from patients, medical records, families, or healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Utilizing coding systems for data entry related to clinical trials.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Trials Team to design and develop data collection tools, including forms and data definitions.
  • Prepare for external audits in conjunction with team members and engage with monitors as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Health Record Administration Program with eligibility for membership in the Canadian College of Health Records Administrators at the Certificate level.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant data management experience in a clinical trials setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred certification from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical research methodologies.
  • Proficient in data capture, management, and retrieval using both automated and manual systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and organize work efficiently.
  • Commitment to fostering reconciliation and understanding of Indigenous communities and cultural safety.
