Job Summary:

The Safe Rides Coordinator will play a critical role in the All Nations Coordinated Response Network's (ANCR) three-year pilot program aimed at improving the response to missing/absent children and youth in care. This position will be responsible for receiving calls from various stakeholders, including children/youth, child and family services workers, parents, and community members, and will triage those calls to determine the necessary course of action.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and respond to calls from children/youth, child and family services workers, parents, and community members regarding missing/absent children and youth in care.
  • Triage calls to determine if they require police involvement, ANCR's After Hours Program, or dispatch to the Safe Ride team for assistance in safely returning children/youth to placement.
  • Monitor all communications and track the whereabouts of the team to ensure the safety of team members and children/youth.
  • Collaborate with ANCR's After Hours Program and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated response to missing/absent children and youth in care.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with child and family services workers, parents, and community members to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the needs of children/youth in care.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Certificate in Child & Youth Care or other relevant discipline; a degree in the social services field is an asset.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in front-line work, including outreach services; other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Independent capacity to maintain records, including previous experience entering data and generating reports.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous and multi-cultural contexts, with demonstrated skill working in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Outlook is required.
  • Experience with CFSIS/Intake Module is an asset.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry, and CFS Prior Contact check.
  • Valid driver's license and a vehicle with $2,000,000 liability insurance, with a personal driver abstract.
  • Emergency First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
