We are seeking a Wastewater Collection Foreman to oversee the operations and maintenance of our sanitary and storm lift stations. This role involves ensuring the functionality of various systems, including force mains and odor control sites, across multiple locations. As a key member of our team, you will work with minimal supervision, utilizing your judgment to address operational challenges and implement effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operation and maintenance of lift stations.
  • Respond to emergencies related to lift station failures, flooding, and power outages.
  • Facilitate the deployment and operation of portable Emergency Lift Stations (ELS).
  • Oversee the maintenance of odor control facilities.
  • Conduct inspections and maintenance of air valves and associated infrastructure.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders and the public.
  • Support the development and performance of Lift Station Pump Operators through training and coaching.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all staff.
  • Assign tasks and monitor the performance of team members.
  • Effectively manage simultaneous demands and make on-the-spot decisions.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) with a Level 1 Wastewater Collection Operator Certification from Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) (or provincial equivalent) for a minimum of one year.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in wastewater collection.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Level 2 Wastewater Collection Operator Certification from Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) within one year of employment.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent) with a clean driving record.
  • Courses in Lift Station Design or Pump Design are advantageous.
  • Experience with lift stations is preferred.
  • Knowledge in plumbing and/or electrical/mechanical systems is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in using software and remote devices is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are essential.

Note: This position includes rotating standby/on-call duties to respond to alarms, ELS deployment, and emergencies.

Working Conditions: The role may involve exposure to odors, extreme temperatures, loud noises, dampness, untreated wastewater, and fumes. Some tasks will be performed in an office setting.
