Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wastewater Collection Foreman to join our team at the City of Calgary. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our sanitary and storm lift stations, force mains, and odor control sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain lift stations, force mains, and odor control sites to ensure optimal performance and minimize disruptions to service.
  • Provide emergency response during lift station failures, flooding, and power outages, and deploy and operate portable Emergency Lift Stations as needed.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of air valves and Chestermere force main to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal clients and citizens of Calgary, and work collaboratively with other teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy work environment for lift station staff, and assign work and oversee the performance of subordinates.
Requirements
  • A High School diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 1 year of experience as a Level 1 Wastewater Collection Operator.
  • At least 4 years of experience working with wastewater collection, and a valid Class 5 Driver's License with no more than 6 demerits.
  • Able to attain Level 2 Wastewater Collection Operator Certification within 1 year of employment, and possess well-developed problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
Working Conditions

This position may be exposed to odours, extreme temperatures, loud noises, dampness, untreated wastewater, and fumes. A portion of work is performed in an office environment.
