Role Overview:

We are seeking a Digital Payload Systems Engineer to join our Satellite Systems team. This role is pivotal in supporting our mission as a leading independent supplier of antennas, payloads, and electronics for communication and radar satellites. Our team has played a significant role in numerous missions over the past six decades, and we continue to innovate and expand our capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support technical projects focused on end-to-end telecommunications systems engineering utilizing digital transponders.
  • Design communication satellite payloads, ranging from traditional RF bent pipe payloads to advanced digital onboard processing payloads.
  • Develop and support system requirements and specifications for RF and digital equipment, including digital channel processor specifications and high-capacity multi-spot beam systems.
  • Conduct requirement analysis and system trade studies to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform link and performance budget calculations to evaluate satellite throughput.
  • Establish and oversee methods, standards, and procedures for systems engineering tools and testing for payloads with digital channel processing.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in digital equipment and signal processing, with knowledge of RF and system payloads being advantageous.
  • Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and self-motivation.
  • Analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Preference will be given to Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and maintain security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessments for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
