Digital Payload System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Payload System Engineer to join our Satellite Systems team at Macdonald, Dettwiler And Associates Corporation in Montreal. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing digital payload systems for our communication satellites.
Key Responsibilities- Lead technical projects and end-to-end telecommunications systems engineering activities using digital transponders, providing flexibility and connectivity.
- Design communication satellite payloads from conventional RF bent pipe payloads to digital onboard processing payloads.
- Develop system requirements definition and subsystem specifications for RF and digital equipment, including digital channel processor specifications, direct radiating array phase antennas, high-capacity multiple spot beam systems, and flexible payloads.
- Perform requirement analysis and system trade studies.
- Calculate link and performance budgets, and evaluate satellite throughput.
- Develop and supervise methods, standards, plans, and procedures for systems engineering tools and systems tests for payloads with digital channel processing.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in digital equipment and signal processing, with knowledge of RF and system payloads.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams is desired.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and oral presentation skills.
- English required; French fluency is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and self-motivation.
- Strong analytic, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident is preferred.
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
