Position Summary:
We are seeking a Digital Payload System Engineer to join our dynamic Satellite Systems team. This role is pivotal in enhancing our capabilities in the new space economy, where we aim to transform visionary concepts into practical missions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support technical initiatives and end-to-end telecommunications systems engineering activities, focusing on digital transponder systems.
- Contribute to the design and development of communication satellite payloads, ranging from traditional RF systems to advanced digital processing payloads.
- Define system requirements and specifications for RF and digital components, including digital channel processors and high-capacity multi-spot beam systems.
- Conduct requirement analysis and system trade studies to optimize performance.
- Perform link and performance budget calculations to assess satellite throughput.
- Establish and oversee methods, standards, and procedures for systems engineering tools and testing protocols for digital payloads.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in digital equipment and signal processing, with a preference for knowledge in RF and system payloads.
- Proven experience in leading cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a robust work ethic, and self-motivation.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Preference for Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
Special Considerations:
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessments for relevant programs.
