Role Summary

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will play a crucial role within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team aimed at providing comprehensive services and programs to our clients.

The Residence is a distinguished and specialized establishment committed to offering top-tier, medically-oriented treatment for mental health, addiction, and concurrent disorders in a private, highly tailored, and luxurious residential atmosphere.

Our facility is staffed by a dedicated team of nationally recognized medical and clinical professionals, including psychiatrists, physicians, and psychologists, with access to leading experts in various mental health and addiction fields.

All activities are designed to assist clients in developing the skills necessary for achieving and maintaining recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care and adapt to changing patient care requirements in accordance with CNO standards and RNAO Best Practice Guidelines.
  • Receive patient assignments and adhere to established care plans.
  • Administer both psychiatric and non-psychiatric medications and treatments.
  • Initiate necessary clinical assessments upon admission and as required, such as Mental Status Exam and Columbia Suicide Scale.
  • Engage with interdisciplinary teams and individual team members as appropriate.
  • Serve as a preceptor, mentor, coach, or resource nurse as needed.
  • Participate in clinical discussions, team meetings, and patient/family conferences.
  • Adapt to changing work assignments as necessary.
Qualifications

  • Current registration as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
  • Minimum of 6 months of nursing experience and familiarity with the Mental Health Act (MHA) and community mental health resources.
  • CPR/Basic rescuer certification and venipuncture skills.
  • Understanding of documentation standards (CNO) and privacy legislation (PHIPPA).
  • Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
  • Experience in group facilitation.
  • Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and engage with acutely ill patients.
  • Current knowledge and experience in assessing and treating psychiatric disorders, including suicide prevention and management of personality disorders.
  • Prior training in boundaries, suicide awareness, and medication administration.
  • Experience in assisting with program development is an asset.
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with various systems and software applications.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
