Registered Practical Nurse Opportunity

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at Schlegel Villages.

About the Role

As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our residents, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to understand their individual needs and advocate for their participation in decisions about their care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Deliver safe administration of medication and treatments with a focus on accuracy, quality, and meeting our residents' quality of life requests
  • Follow plans of care (or service plans) in accordance with the standards of the College of Nurses and identify and report any changes in the resident's well-being to the Charge Nurse or Village leadership team
  • Support and embrace our resident-centred social culture and deliver the highest quality of personal care to our residents
  • Work as a key member of our Village and Neighbourhood multidisciplinary team to understand residents' individual needs and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care
  • Collaborate with the Neighbourhood Physician during weekly rounds and update care plans and directions accordingly
  • Have proficient communication and computer skills in order to update care plans in the current system
Requirements
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Existing Heart Save Level of CPR
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, properly plan for, and allocate the right amount of time and effort to complete tasks
  • Understanding of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, and regulations applicable to the Long-Term Care sector
  • Support and embrace our resident-centred social culture
Preferred Qualifications
  • MDS credentials
  • Experience working with people living with Dementia
  • Knowledge of the palliative assessments scale
  • Comfortable supporting residents and their families during end of life care
