UPM Raflatac Canada is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Technician to enhance our team. The successful candidate will bring substantial electrical and mechanical skills, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to optimizing our operational processes. This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing equipment performance to ensure high operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve automation, electrical, and mechanical equipment issues during breakdowns, implementing corrective, predictive, and preventive measures to enhance work practices.
  • Monitor PLC systems and assist in the installation, upgrading, and modification of new equipment.
  • Participate in a reliability-centered maintenance program aimed at optimizing efficiency and production flow.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of condition monitoring, maintenance activities, parts utilized, and follow-up actions required.
  • Uphold housekeeping standards in all work areas and manage local inventory of spare parts effectively.
  • Coordinate and oversee local contractors as necessary, supporting service agreement negotiations for machinery and components.
  • Prioritize tasks in collaboration with the Operations Leadership Team.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, safety, and environmental regulations, adhering to company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • An associate degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering technology or a related field, with 5–10 years of multi-craft maintenance experience, particularly in electrical and automation.
  • Experience in the paper or paper converting industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code, OSHA requirements, and both European and US electrical diagrams and symbols is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical components and effective maintenance practices for a variety of equipment, including advanced automated machinery.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, and Process Control Systems.
  • Experience with CMMS and AutoCAD is preferred; strong communication and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
