About This Opportunity

Black & McDonald's Southern Ontario Utilities team is expanding its operations, and we're seeking a skilled Project Coordinator to join our team. As a Project Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, organizing, and directing assigned projects to meet schedule, specifications, and budget requirements.
  • Monitor progress, schedule, quality, costs, and project change management under the direction of senior leadership.
  • Comply with all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparing construction schedules and milestones, and monitor progress against established timelines.
  • Complete quantity take-offs from construction drawings, track and update as-built quantities, and field verify when required.
  • Assist in preparing contracts and negotiating revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in budget analysis, cost, and margin projections, estimate project changes, and impacts.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs.
  • Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships.
  • Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
  • Coordinate trade and subcontractor activities.
  • Document control.
  • Purchase supplies and materials as required to complete projects.

Education Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
Work Experience Requirements
  • 1-2 years of Project Coordination experience in the construction sector working on Utilities projects.
Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

  • Contract management.
  • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution.
  • Blueprint reading.
  • Project electrical, mechanical, and structural design interpretation.
  • Financial statements – read and comprehend.
  • Organization and time management.

Proficient user of:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
  • JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system.
  • Valid Ontario 'G' Driver's License is required.
