Patient Registration Coordinator, Ambulatory Services

Key Responsibilities
- Utilize an electronic scheduling platform to manage and coordinate patient appointments, including complex interdisciplinary bookings, ensuring all arrangements align with patient and departmental needs while providing accurate information regarding dates, times, and locations to patients and clinicians.
- Register patients upon their arrival using a computerized system, ensuring all demographic and relevant information is complete and accurate, and notify the appropriate healthcare professional of the patient's arrival.
- Perform various clerical tasks such as answering phone calls, addressing inquiries, retrieving patient files, welcoming patients and families, and generating daily or monthly schedules while escalating complex issues to the relevant personnel.
- Organize and maintain patient charts by employing the correct forms and filing methods in accordance with established protocols, including contacting healthcare providers to verify client information and documentation for record accuracy.
- Handle referral processes by collecting additional or missing information, conducting data entry, and managing related paperwork.
- Schedule new referrals based on established guidelines, collaborating with physicians, clinic nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure appropriate scheduling based on clinical criteria.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of secondary education.
- A minimum of two years of recent experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Desired Skills
- Proficient typing skills (minimum 45 words per minute) and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Effective interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.
- Competence in operating relevant office equipment.
- Capability to perform the physical tasks associated with the role.
- Commitment to understanding and engaging with the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and related initiatives.
- A strong asset would be knowledge of the social, economic, and historical contexts affecting Indigenous communities, as well as familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism principles.
