Position: Financial Analyst – 0.8 FTE Part-time Permanent

WellFort is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing community health through various health promotion initiatives, primary care, and collaboration with local stakeholders.

As a Financial Analyst reporting to the Finance Manager, you will oversee payroll processing, maintain payroll and benefits documentation, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. This role encompasses a corporate aspect, focusing on the coordination of internal financial reporting and the enhancement of financial processes, both manual and automated. Proficiency in payroll regulations, computerized payroll systems, spreadsheets, and accounting principles is essential. You will collaborate closely with the Human Resources and Finance teams to support payroll-related inquiries and projects.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Management:

  • Prepare payroll data and execute the payroll process using the ADP system.
  • Calculate and prepare remittances for government entities and employee benefits.
  • Generate T4 & T4A summaries and conduct annual payroll reconciliations.
  • Ensure accuracy in payroll-related General Ledger Accounts.
  • Maintain payroll records in a manner conducive to audits, addressing queries from employees and management promptly.
  • Administer group benefits and manage enrollments and changes.
  • Stay informed on payroll best practices and legal obligations to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with various departments to align payroll activities with organizational objectives.
  • Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries.
  • Engage with payroll providers to resolve issues as necessary.

Corporate Financial Functions:

  • Develop analytical review schedules tailored to stakeholder needs in finance-related areas.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of financial data and prepare management reports.
  • Assess reporting requests to define user needs and optimal production methods.
  • Assist with variance reporting and other financial analyses as required.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Leadership teams to implement new policies and best practices for financial tracking and reporting.

Financial Support Activities:

  • Assist in procurement and reconciliation processes.
  • Support bank reconciliation and tax remittance activities.
  • Contribute to budget preparation and forecasting as needed.
  • Assist with audit processes as required.
  • Support funder reporting functions as necessary.
  • Help prepare month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
  • Provide coverage for the scheduling coordinator when needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Business Administration or Accounting program, with progress towards a CPA designation preferred.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is an asset.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in Finance, Accounting, and Payroll, ideally within a health-funded organization.
  • Familiarity with ADP payroll software is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Experience with financial software such as Great Plains is an advantage.
  • Strong team player with collaborative skills across departments.
  • Solid understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and employment laws.
  • Ability to analyze payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of time and attendance systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Salary Range: $58,211 - $67,514 (pro-rated to FTE) based on experience.
