Job Summary

Fuel Transport Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing legal support and guidance to our business operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of issues, including transportation, employment, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, including transportation agreements and other business-related contracts.
  • Review and analyze contracts, agreements, and other documents to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Summarize contractual obligations and review with internal stakeholders to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Provide advice on contract interpretation and management of existing relationships.
  • Work closely with the claims department to manage files and resolve disputes.
  • Assist in the drafting of company policies, procedures, and standards as required.
  • Identify, evaluate, and assess legal issues and risks related to the company's business activities and initiatives.
  • Create and/or update standard forms and templates.
  • Participate in new business opportunities and onboarding calls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with pending, threatened, or existing disputes between the company and third parties.
  • Manage and monitor statutory permits, licenses, bonds, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the insurance files, including new requests, cancellations, renewals, and other related matters.
  • Liaise with external counsel to manage litigation cases and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • University degree in law.
  • Member in good standing of the Quebec bar.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a lawyer.
  • Insurance and/or transportation industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
