Judicial Support Officer
The Government of Nova Scotia is looking for a committed professional to join our Court Services Division as a Judicial Support Officer. This position involves overseeing and facilitating court sessions, offering assistance to the Judiciary, and serving as a bridge between the Court and various involved parties. Key responsibilities encompass administrative tasks, performing quasi-judicial functions, and guiding new personnel.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee and facilitate court sessions
- Provide administrative assistance to the Judiciary
- Serve as a clerk across all court levels
- Guide and train new personnel
- Draft and prepare judicial orders
- Transcribe court proceedings
- Leverage technology for virtual court sessions
- Assist with administrative tasks related to the Court
- Produce and manage judicial decisions
- Offer administrative support to judges
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate will possess a post-secondary qualification in a relevant field along with a minimum of five years of experience in a legal setting. Proficiency in typing, data entry, and Microsoft Office applications is essential. Strong organizational and communication abilities are crucial, as well as the capacity to perform effectively under pressure and adhere to deadlines. Familiarity with court procedures and legal terminology is required.
