WJS Canada is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Service Worker to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in empowering individuals with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives.
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support and guidance to clients, assisting them in developing essential life skills such as communication, emotional regulation, budgeting, household management, and self-care.
- Facilitate the exploration of interests and hobbies, encouraging active participation in community activities, educational programs, and volunteer opportunities.
- Connect clients with valuable resources and support services within the community, including employment coaching, resume building assistance, and job search guidance.
- Promote inclusion and social integration by fostering positive relationships and facilitating meaningful connections within the community.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Education & Experience:
- Possess a Grade 12 diploma or an equivalent qualification in Disability Studies, Social Sciences, Human Services, or a related field.
- Have a minimum of two years of experience in community rehabilitation and working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities. Specialized training and demonstrated success in relevant settings are highly valued.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Be physically active and able to understand nonverbal cues effectively.
- Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license, a clean Driver's Abstract, and proof of insurability.
- Hold current certifications in First Aid/CPR, Restrictive Procedures, Abuse Protocols, and Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention.
