Position Overview

The Planner is responsible for the formulation of work orders and directives, requiring a comprehensive understanding of the scope, application, limitations, and references within the approved maintenance program, aircraft work standards, and airworthiness criteria. Planners are tasked with process planning, material needs assessment, labor estimation, and tooling requirements for aircraft programs and component manufacturing.

This position will report to the IMP Aerospace and Defence location near the Halifax International Airport.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and assess detailed manufacturing, repair, and overhaul processes, including assembly sequences for production tasks.
  • Actively contribute to work readiness, which may involve detailed evaluations, interdepartmental collaboration, issue resolution, and work deployment.
  • Conduct thorough research and review of technical documentation for precision and completeness.
  • Ensure that all maintenance program data is accurately represented in the Process Planning documentation and is consistently updated.
  • Adhere to product conformance procedures, including the management of non-conforming materials, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Notify the appropriate AMO authority of any identified deficiencies that may affect the airworthiness of an aeronautical product.
  • Identify and initiate provisioning needs for all projects and programs.
  • Support Production, Purchasing, and Sub-Contractors with technical data interpretation and collaborate with the Engineering Department to address issues.
  • Initiate requests for Engineering Services (RES) as necessary.
  • Prepare labor and material cost estimates for proposals and Requests for Employees.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of experience in an aircraft Repair and Overhaul environment, applying both commercial and military Quality Control standards; or
  • Three to five years of experience as a Planner/Estimator or in a related role; or
  • A graduate from a Community College Technologist Program (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical) or a trade-qualified and experienced ex-military aircraft technician (AVN, AVS) or a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) or certified Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT).
  • Must familiarize with the Maintenance Process Manual (MPM) and demonstrate a foundational understanding of technical airworthiness functions, authority, and responsibilities to the satisfaction of the Manager-Planner/Estimator designation.
  • Exhibit a personal commitment to IMP's Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment policies, focusing on individual and collective safety.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement, Lean, and 5S initiatives within your area.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and obtain Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC-Contract Security Program, as well as Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
