Position Title: Registered Dietician

Employment Type: Part-Time, Non-Bargaining Unit Position

Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Senior Administrator or designated authority, the incumbent will take charge of the nutritional management for residents, ensuring the delivery of exceptional clinical nutrition services and promoting the overall well-being of individuals in care.

The role requires travel to various facilities to fulfill responsibilities effectively.


Main Responsibilities:
– Supervise the menu development process and create cycle menus that adhere to the standards set forth in the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, which includes:
o A minimum 21-day menu cycle for standard therapeutic and texture-modified diets and snacks.
o Development of standardized recipes and nutrient analysis for each menu item.

o Guaranteeing that alternative menu options for entrees, vegetables, and desserts maintain comparable nutritional value to the primary selections.

– Engage in the evaluation of existing and new systems, programs, policies, and procedures.
– Ensure compliance of nutrition and hydration care programs with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021.
– Reassess residents' nutritional care according to the RAI-MDS schedule or as required.
– Evaluate new admissions within 21 days and formulate resident-centered nutrition care plans that align with individual needs and rights.
– Participate in multidisciplinary care conferences to address the nutritional considerations of residents and adjust nutritional plans as necessary.
– Provide guidance to the healthcare team in identifying nutrient-related health issues and establishing treatment objectives.
– Contribute to the annual assessment of the medication management program.
– Undertake any additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
– Must be eligible or currently registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
– A minimum of three years of professional experience in long-term care settings.
– Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a focus on gerontology.
– A proactive individual who is professional, enthusiastic, and resourceful.
– Awareness and sensitivity to the cultural, spiritual, and physical needs of residents.
