Clinical Counsellor

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Counsellor to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a Clinical Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to children and youth with mental health and substance use concerns.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, design, and deliver individual and group counselling sessions to patients, identifying their goals and expectations, and providing education and support to promote positive change.
- Perform intakes, assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, consultations, counselling, group therapy, and psychoeducation to support patients and their families.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, including consulting with colleagues, community providers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting telephone and in-person contacts with patients and community providers.
- Develop and implement education and training programs to support patients and their families, using a variety of teaching modalities, including videoconferencing.
- Participate in program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for change and developing recommendations to improve service delivery.
- Master's degree in a health-related discipline, such as Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or a related field.
- Specific training and certification applicable to the program area and patient population, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Two years of recent related work experience in community and/or hospital organizations, including experience working with the designated client population.
- Eligibility for membership and registration in the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
