Clinical Counsellor Educator

Role Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Clinical Counsellor Educator to join our Regional Allied Health Education team at Vancouver General Hospital and travel between other Regional Sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide discipline-specific education and expertise across the health authority in a team-based environment.
- Offer clinical and educational support to designated staff within Vancouver Coastal Health, with a focus on providing training in clinical counselling practices.
- Coordinate student placements and support, as well as mentor clinical preceptors.
- Develop and implement educational programs, provide training in practice, and assist with the development and rollout of new clinical practices.
- Consult with healthcare providers regarding clinical concerns or requirements to improve client care.
- Provide training in clinical counselling practices, including leading knowledge transfer of best practices and modifying techniques.
- Maintain and update knowledge of clinical and professional practice, including hands-on clinical competencies.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master's of Clinical Counseling or Counselling Psychology from an accredited academic institution, plus a minimum of four years' recent, related clinical counselling experience, and completion of a professional instructional program for teaching.
- Experience creating educational materials, implementing education strategies, and utilizing knowledge translation abilities.
- Eligibility for registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and/or the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
- Valid BC Driver's License, as local area travel within the VCH geographic area may occur.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of organization policies, legislation, procedures, and standards of care.
- Broad knowledge of clinical counselling theory and practice within a client and family-centred model of care.
- Broad knowledge of education theory and tele-health and technology-based learning.
- Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety and provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, facilitate, and teach, as well as promote a creative learning environment and a culture of enquiry and evidence-based practice.
