Job Summary

The Zone Clinical Department Facility Chief (ZCDFC) is a key leadership position within the North Zone and Alberta Health Services. This role is accountable for all physician-related matters, as well as all operational and strategic issues and decisions requiring physician input or leadership within the area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with operational partners and department heads to drive strategic initiatives and improve patient care.
  • Develop and lead medical leaders to achieve excellence in clinical practice and patient outcomes.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of department heads and staff to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Represent the facility in provincial and zone-level workgroups to advance healthcare initiatives.
  • Identify recruitment needs and manage the process to ensure a skilled and diverse workforce.
  • Support departmental management of local physician-related issues, including concerns and complaints.
  • Identify and escalate organizational risks to medical and operational leadership.
  • Represent the facility positively to external stakeholders and promote a culture of excellence.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with medical and operational leaders.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in healthcare leadership or a related field.
