Cabinetlab Inc. is a leading manufacturer of custom wood furniture and cabinets. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Woodworking Specialist to join our team.
Job SummaryThe Woodworking Specialist will be responsible for designing, building, and installing custom wood furniture and cabinets for our clients. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of skill, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Build Custom Wood Furniture and Cabinets: The Woodworking Specialist will design and build custom wood furniture and cabinets to meet the needs of our clients. This will involve working with clients to understand their requirements, creating detailed designs and specifications, and building the furniture and cabinets to a high standard.
- Operate Woodworking Machines: The Woodworking Specialist will operate a range of woodworking machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers, to cut, shape, and form wood components.
- Prepare Specifications and Drawings: The Woodworking Specialist will prepare detailed specifications and drawings of custom-made cabinets and furniture to ensure that they meet the requirements of our clients.
- Study Plans and Specifications: The Woodworking Specialist will study plans and specifications of articles to be made to ensure that they are accurate and complete.
- Trim Joints and Fit Parts Together: The Woodworking Specialist will trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete units and reinforce joints.
- Sand and Finish Wood Surfaces: The Woodworking Specialist will sand and finish wood surfaces to a high standard, applying veneer, stain, or polish as required.
- Maintain a Clean and Safe Work Environment: The Woodworking Specialist will maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
- Experience: 5 years or more of experience in woodworking or a related field.
- Skills: Excellent woodworking skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fast-Paced Environment: The Woodworking Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of activity and pressure to meet deadlines.
- Manual Dexterity: The Woodworking Specialist will require manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate woodworking machines and perform tasks.
- Attention to Detail: The Woodworking Specialist will require excellent attention to detail to ensure that work is accurate and complete.
- Standing for Extended Periods: The Woodworking Specialist will be required to stand for extended periods, with regular breaks to rest and stretch.
- Accurate: The Woodworking Specialist will be accurate and reliable in their work, with a strong attention to detail.
- Efficient Interpersonal Skills: The Woodworking Specialist will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
