About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Custom Wood Furniture Maker to join our team at 1519789 Ontario Inc. as a key member of our furniture manufacturing company. As a Custom Wood Furniture Maker, you will be responsible for creating high-quality custom-made cabinets and furniture pieces that meet our customers' needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Woodworking Machines: Safely operate various woodworking machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers, to cut, shape, and form parts and components.
  • Design and Build Custom Cabinets: Prepare specifications for custom-made cabinets that maximize storage and meet our customers' requirements.
  • Shape and Finish Woodwork: Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files, and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products.
  • Study Plans and Specifications: Study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Assemble and Finish Products: Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete units, and reinforce joints to ensure stability and durability.
  • Maintain a Clean and Safe Work Environment: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Supervise and Train: Supervise and train other workers as needed to ensure the smooth operation of our furniture manufacturing company.
  • Estimate Costs and Materials: Estimate costs and materials required for each project to ensure accurate pricing and efficient production.
  • Repair and Restyle Furniture: Repair or restyle wooden furniture, fixtures, and related products to meet customer demands.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
  • Fast-Paced Environment: Work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Standing for Extended Periods: Stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours a day, with regular breaks.
  • Weight Handling: Lift and move objects weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs) with ease.
