Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed estimates for construction projects, working closely with our Director of Estimating and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare comprehensive estimates of probable costs for construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment, based on contract bids, quotations, and specifications.
  • Quantity Take-Offs: Complete accurate quantity take-offs for all aspects of each new project as per contract specification.
  • Tender Analysis: Analyze tenders and recommend tender awards to ensure the best value for our clients.
  • Lead Generation: Search for bid and proposal opportunities to drive business growth.
  • Financial Assessment: Conduct financial assessments of contract variations to ensure accurate cost projections.
  • Supplier Management: Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure efficient procurement processes.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of project estimates, tenders, and contracts.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct current market value assessments to ensure accurate cost estimates.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with trades, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Bid Review: Lead the review of bids with management to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
  • Team Oversight: Oversee the estimating team during project closings to ensure seamless handovers.
  • Communication: Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely project estimates.
  • Site Visits: Conduct site visits to assess project estimates and ensure accurate cost projections.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Encourage a learning environment for the estimating team to ensure knowledge sharing and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is an asset.
  • Experience: At least 7 years of experience in large Residential and ICI construction projects in the Canadian market.
  • Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; proficiency in MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; strong ability to use on-screen takeoff and Bluebeam; familiarity with AutoCAD architecture and Revit is an asset.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and construction practices; ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
