Job Description

The Special Projects Estimator will be responsible for preparing and submitting tender prices for various special projects, working closely with the estimating team to ensure accurate and timely submissions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit tender prices for special projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, including entry into a computerized estimating system
  • Assemble and submit Bid Documents, ensuring all bid requirements are met
  • Prepare detailed labor breakdowns for each area to assist with budget creation and management of projects
  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers and sub-trades to ensure sound and competitive pricing
  • Review project designs to develop win strategies and review final cost reports with project teams
  • Interpret design information and have the ability to "draw-in" services and equipment to make for a complete system
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary diploma in mechanical or construction technology or other relevant technology field
  • Extensive experience in a mechanical contracting trade or industry certification
  • Working knowledge of AccuBid and Trimble or equivalent required
  • Strong understanding of mechanical specifications, construction methods, and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Self-motivated with strong willingness and ability to learn and be challenged
  • Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, analyze, and understand construction drawings, associated documentation, contracts, cost coding systems, and work breakdown structures
